It looks like the “American Idol” revival has plenty of exciting things in store for viewers. The ABC show is said to be in active talks with Katy Perry to join the singing competition TV series when it hit the small screen in early 2018.

Perry, whose potential involvement was first revealed by TMZ, is exceptionally keen on becoming an “American Idol” judge. She is even open to scheduling potential tour dates around the show’s taping schedule.

“She got very excited about doing it after talking to Ryan Seacrest backstage during Wango Tango,” an unnamed source said. “She wanted to pick his brain and find out the pros and cons of doing the show and he convinced her that it would be a good idea.”

“Katy was super smart to talk to Ryan since he could tell her what it’s really like,” the source continued. “She is reportedly thinking it over and is almost ready to say, ‘yes.’ Now the money has to match and she most likely will sign on the dotted line.

While many are glad that "The One That Got Away" hitmaker may join the judges' table on the rebooted “American Idol,” some fans are not buying it considering the pop star is busy working on her fifth studio album.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Perry said her new album will be vastly different from what fans have come to expect from her. The as-yet-untitled fifth studio album is said to be all about “healing,” as it reflects who the singer is now that she is in her thirties.

"The energy is just totally different -- it’s not thirsty or desperate or clingy,” Perry teased. “It’s a really beautiful kind of Zen-like feeling place... It’s really quite brave. Sonically, it’s fun and dance-y and dark and light. It’s all of these things. It definitely is a change.”
