BLACKPINK Confirmed Summer Comeback: What to Expect from the Rising Girl Group?
The long wait for BLACKPINK’s comeback is almost over!
An affiliate of YG Entertainment recently confirmed that the rookie girl group is set to return in June. Allkpop cited the four-member act is currently finishing up the preparations for their upcoming summer comeback.
Although the source refused to give further details about the return, BLACKPINK is expected to release new tracks that ooze summervibes. The girl group is also set to perform at university festivals as part of their comeback promotions.
Their first outdoor performance will take place at the 2017 Kwangwoon University Festival from May 16 to 19. The lineup also includes Akdong Musician, Bolppalgan4, Monday Kiz, Baek Ah Yeon, C Jamm, and Min Kyung Hoon of Buzz.
Jennie, Lisa, Rose, and Jisoo officially made their debut as BLACKPINK in August. They were the first girl group formed by YG Entertainment in seven years after the rise of 2NE1.
Their debut singles “BOOMBAYAH” and “WHISTLE” were an instant hit among K-pop fans all over the world. In fact, the former recently surpassed 150 million views on YouTube, while the latter has over 107 million views at the moment of writing.
Following the success of their “Square One” mini album, BLACKPINK released another EP, titled “Square Two,” with singles “Playing with Fire” and “Stay” in November. The girl group even earned the top spot on Billboard’s World Digital Songs chart for their newest single.
BLACKPINK was among the few K-pop acts which became an instant hit after making their debut. In less than a month, the girl groupranked second in terms of brand reputation, tailing EXO at first place.
Before they can even celebrate their first anniversary, the four-member act has already achieved several recognitions including New Artist awards at the Mnet Asian Music Award and Seoul Music Awards.
