TWICE, BTS Lead K-Pop Group Brand Reputation in May
Korea Business Research Institute recently revealed the analysis for K-Pop groups with the highest brand reputation and ranked them. BTS and TWICE come in first place in boy and girl group, respectively.
Data from April 12 to May 13 revealed the best boy and girl groups in terms of media, communication and community.
BTS got the first spot on the boy group list with a score of 7,899, 583 which is considered as 21.74 percent more compared to last month’s data.
“BTS has been holding the No. 1 rank in brand reputation rankings among boy groups for seven months in a row,” Korean Business Research Institue head Goo Chang Hwan said. “Recently their Japanese single “Blood, Sweat, Tears” rose to the top of the Japanese Oricon daily singles chart. They also became the first boy group to receive an official invitation to the American Billboard Music Awards. As a result, many of their keywords involved ‘Billboard Music Awards’ and ‘Oricon,’ contributing to their score.”
Second spot was taken by veteran group SECHSKIES with a score of 5,539,871. Following the list are boy groups WINNER, EXO, BIGBANG, SHINee, BTOB, INFINITE, SEVENTEEN, Highlight, Block B, BEAST, NU’EST, SF9, VIXX, Super Junior, NCT, MONSTA X, B1A4 and VROMANCE.
As for girl groups, TWICE came in on the top spot with a score of 8,071,736 which is reported to be 65.06 percent more compared to the previous month’s record.
The institute stated that TWICE has remained its top spot since November 2016. Their hit songs “Knock Knock” and “TT” have reportedly kept their brand ranking higher as it stayed on different music charts for several months.
Red Velvet is on the second spot with a score of 4,502,995 which is 49.30 percent more compared to data in April. Following Red Velvet are EXID, LABOUM, BLACKPINK, PRISTIN, Oh My Girl, Girls’ Generation, Rainbow, Girl’s Day, Lovelyz, Apink, MAMAMOO, GFRIEND, gugudan, Stellar, WANNA. B, AOA, DreamCatcher and MOMOLAND.
