The indie, but fan-favorite medieval warfare “Mount & Blade” has been around for several years, but the eSports community might be seeing more of it as it launches it first professional competition called “The Battle of Bucharest.” Will this give the upcoming sequel a good exposure to quickly aim it in the professional gaming field as well?

As reported at eSports Pro, the highly praised indie game “Mount & Blade” finally reaches the professional gaming stage with the recently launched “Battle of Bucharest” series. Competitors will be given the chance to battle it out and grab the grand prize of $10,000.

The official announcement is also shown on the Steam Community page for those who are interested in participating. Organized by Lithuanian eSport Federation and with working with TaleWorlds Entertainment (the developer of the game) the competition is already being held and the initial qualifiers will end on May 14, 2017. The finals will be held on May 20th, where the best solo warriors will have to duke it out on a duel. At the same date, 20 players will also be competing in a team mode battle.

Even with the game's fairly dated graphics that also looks older than the time that it was released, it still managed to become one of the most popular game in its genre and it was all thanks to its responsive combat controls and epic battles. Over the years that it has been around, the game evolved and the most recent mainline expansion it has is the “Mount & Blade: Warband” update, which also has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating at Steam, with players logging in thousands of hours of gameplay.

“Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord” is yet to be released, but it is expected to be announced soon. With the sheer eSports presence, the original “Mount & Blade” might just get, it wouldn't be surprising to see the sequel, being positioned earlier in the competitive scene and even more so with updated graphics, gameplay elements and much more.
