'Bond 25': Will Daniel Craig or Tom Hardy Play James Bond?

While the new James Bond still remains undecided, Tom Hardy comes one step closer to replacing Daniel Craig as the MI6 agent in the upcoming film “Bond 25.”

The “Mad Max” star recently won over fans and single-handedly took down a moped theif in London in true James Bond fashion. The actor is now being considered as the favorite to take over the coveted role after bookies slashed the odds for which British actor is most likely to replace Craig and take on the role of agent 007.

The 39-year-old actor’s chances of playing Bond have increased ten-fold as rumors emerge that his “Inception” and “The Dark Knight” director Christopher Nolan will direct “Bond 25.” In a recent interview with The Daily Beast, the “Taboo” actor addressed rumors about him playing the next Bond and talked about how Nolan would be perfect for the project.

“You know, there’s a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting, and in the fellowship of my peer group, that if you talk about it you’re automatically out of the race. So I can’t possibly comment on that one! If I mention it, it’s gone!,” Hardy said.

“But Chris Nolan, what a fantastic director for a Bond movie,” he added. “I think when you mention someone like Christopher Nolan, that’s a very powerful figure to bring into that world who could bring something new and create something profound…again.”

Craig made his Bond debut with the 2006 film, “Casino Royale” and went on to become the second-longest serving actor to play the suave secret agent. After “Spectre,” the actor said that he’d rather “slash his own wrists” than do another Bond film, which started speculation about his replacement.

However, New York Post's Page Six recently claimed in a report that Bond producer Barbara Broccoli has managed to convince the actor to do one more Bond movie so it’s possible that Craig could star in “Bond 25” before he retires as the suave British agent.

Apart from Hardy and Craig, there are a number of actors in contention to play Bond and the shortlisted candidates include the likes of Henry Cavill, Idris Elba, Michael Fassbender, and Tom Hiddleston.
