'Darksiders: Warmastered Edition' Set for Wii U Release, but the Console's Life Likely to End Too Soon

Just when people thought that Nintendo has started abandoning the Wii U, THQ Nordic's “Darksiders: Warmastered Edition” and its announced released date for the console might signify that there's still a considerable amount of entertainment left. However, will a few handful of remasters and games be enough to keep it from sinking?

A couple of weeks ago, fans of the action RPG game “Darksiders: Warmastered Edition” wasn't going to ditch those who have been anticipating it on the Wii U. Several reports similar to Gamespot stated that THQ Nordic is still intent on releasing the game, which actually comes out this coming May.

While it isn't all about eye-candy with the Wii U's port being the inferior one compared to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC release with its 30 frames per second lock, the fact that it will still be released can be reason enough for Wii U owners to have a sigh of relief. Several rumors about the previous generation console, being dead or becoming dead in within a year or a few more months, have started spreading online after the Nintendo Switch's release. Even “Darksiders: Warmastered Edition” was previously rumored to be canceled due to other developers backing out from releasing their games.

Besides the Virtual Console announcements for the Wii U, including games like “Rayman” and “Rayman Advanced” (via NintendoWire), two incentives to keep the older console might boil down to the fact that it could be cheaper to keep it or some people still have their reservations for the Nintendo Switch's lineup of games. “Darksiders: Warmastered Edition” for the Wii U is quite a fantastic game to ogle at, but after several outings on several remakes on various consoles, the magic might just die way too soon.

Still, for the solid fans of the first entry in the “Darksiders” franchise, “Darksiders: Warmastered Edition” is still one of the best games that graced the Wii U, and to complete the collection “Darksiders 2” was also released for the Wii U even though “Deathinitive Edition” was a no go. Both games focus on War and Death, two from the “Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse” and both games aged gracefully, providing unique experiences.
