'Assassin's Creed Empire' as Project Scorpio E3 2017 Showcase Unlikely to Happen
After Ubisoft skipped the yearly release of "Assassin's Creed," it looks like the studio is getting ready for the franchise's comeback with "Assassin's Creed Empire." Marketing the title as a Project Scorpio showcase at E3 2017, however, would probably be unlikely.
Project Scorpio at E3 2017
News about Microsoft showcasing Project Scorpio at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo has emerged recently. Fortune reported that the company might announce the console's price range and availability during the conference as well.
What's more interesting, however, is the list of games which will serve as showcase titles for Project Scorpio. Windows Central reported earlier that "Forza Motorsport 7" will definitely be a headline title for the console, as well as Xbox exclusives "State of Decay 2" and "Crackdown 3." It is also interesting to note that Microsoft was also said to secure some highly anticipated third-party titles, according to Window Central's sources.
Titles like Rockstar Games' "Red Dead Redemption 2" and Electronic Arts' "Star Wars: Battlefront 2" were said to be included in the list of Project Scorpio showcases. We did, however, argue previously that "Red Dead Redemption 2" has a really low chance of ever appearing at E3 this year.
Another speculation is that Ubisoft will be bringing "Assassin's Creed Empire" as an E3 2017 showcase title for Project Scorpio, but this is, in our opinion, a very unlikely scenario.
"Assassin's Creed Empire" Will be at E3 2017, But..
The absence of a mainline "Assassin's Creed" title last year has left a gaping hole in Ubisoft's E3 2016 presentation, and even a feature on the "Assassin's Creed" movie did not make up for it. Thus, Ubisoft needs something explosive for this year's E3 conference.
As already mentioned, the French publisher has not shown any "Assassin's Creed" games last year, so fans are no doubt excited about its next outing for the franchise. If "Assassin's Creed Empire" will indeed be at E3 this year, we might get a glimpse of it at Ubisoft's conference.
We are not saying it would be impossible to showcase "Assassin's Creed Empire" for Project Scorpio as part of Xbox's E3 presentation, but we think that Ubisoft will much rather feature the much awaited game on their show rather than Microsoft's.
Either way, we predict that "Assassin's Creed Empire," if it will be called that, will indeed be a huge presence at E3 2017, and "Assassin's Creed" fans will definitely have something to watch out for.
