Just a year after his incredible comeback, Lee Min Ho is planning to have some time off. The 29-year-old Hallyu star is taking a two-year break from show business due to his pending military enlistment.

After much fan speculation, a source from Lee’s management agency MYM Entertainment has confirmed that the actor will begin service on May 12 at the Gangnam Ward Office in southern Seoul. He will first go through a four-week military training on dates set by the Military Manpower Administration (MMA).

“Lee Min Ho will start his military service as a public service worker at the Gangnam District Office in Seoul on May 12,” MYM Entertainment said in a statement obtained by Soompi. “He is planning on enlisting quietly.”

The source from MYM Entertainment added that Lee was assigned to a non-combat position assisting government employees due to the injuries he got from two car accidents he had, way back in 2006 and 2011. Based on the medical examination conducted by MMA years ago, it was concluded that he does not have the capacity to serve in the active duty regardless of the time of his enlistment.

With this, many are wondering about how the said two-year military service will affect Lee’s relationship with his girlfriend, Bae Suzy. Though the miss A member has yet to comment on the matter, she previously revealed they only see each other once a month due to their respective busy schedule.

Currently, Suzy is busy filming Oh Choong-Hwan’s "While You Were Sleeping.” In the upcoming SBS drama, she plays Nam Hong-Ju, a 24-year-old ex-journalist who has an ability to see unfortunate events in her dreams.

Lee, on the other hand, recently wrapped up recording the narration for MBC’s "DMZ, the Wild” – a television documentary focusing on the natural scenery and animals inside the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), The Kpop Herald reported. It will premiere on June 5 at 11:10 PM (KST).
